Bergamot Essential Oil FCF: The Earl Grey Superstar with Serious Mood-Boosting Powers
What exactly is bergamot essential oil, and why should you care?
Bergamot essential oil comes from the peel of the bergamot orange (Citrus bergamia), a funky-looking citrus fruit that's basically the love child of a lemon and an orange. If you've ever sipped Earl Grey tea, you've already met bergamot, it's that distinctive floral citrusy flavor that makes the tea so recognizable.
The Bergamot Backstory
This little green fruit grows almost exclusively in southern Italy, particularly in Calabria, where the Mediterranean climate creates the perfect conditions. The locals have been extracting oil from bergamot peels for centuries, originally using a sponge method that sounds way more relaxing than modern industrial extraction.
