Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: The Exotic Flower That Whispers "You're Absolutely Divine"
What exactly is ylang ylang essential oil, and why should you care?
Ylang ylang essential oil comes from the star-shaped flowers of Cananga odorata trees, native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. We use Ylang Ylang Absolute, which is incredibly potent and concentrated, meaning we can use much less while getting all that intoxicating floral magic. This is the scent of pure feminine power - sweet, complex, and unapologetically sensual, like wearing confidence as a perfume.
The Ylang Ylang Backstory
In the Philippines and Indonesia, ylang ylang flowers are traditionally scattered on the beds of newlyweds because of their legendary aphrodisiac properties. The name literally means "flower of flowers" in Tagalog, and locals have been using these intensely fragrant blooms in love potions and beauty rituals for centuries. Even today, ylang ylang is a key ingredient in some of the world's most well know perfumes, including Chanel No. 5 and Dior's J'adore.

Safety Notes
Since we use ylang ylang absolute, which is much more concentrated and potent than regular essential oil, sensitivity concerns are minimized because we use significantly less in our blends. It's not photosensitive, so no sun exposure worries.
Aropothecary always dilutes to or below international safety standards, so you can use our ylang ylang-containing blends with confidence.
Even so, always patch test first to make sure your skin doesn't react, especially if you have sensitive skin or known allergies.
